He participated while still being a student. The competition gave him self-confidence

Bartosz Araszkiewicz, a laureate of the 3rd prize at the 3rd International Adam Didur Opera Singers’ Competition in 2012 recalls his participation.

Seven years ago when I decided to take part in the Adam Didur Competition I was still a student of the  Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.

During the competition auditions I sang the flagship bass repertoire, from Russian music to Verdi and Rossini.

What I remember best from the competition are the newly-met friends, singers from all around the world who came to Silesia to verify their skills.  I also associate the competition with a good organisation and nice atmosphere among the participants. For me, a student at that time, who took his first steps on the stage, the possibility of singing in the Silesian Opera with the orchestra was very important.  The competition offered me cash injection and the awareness that what I was doing was at a high standard.  A year after the Didur competition, I was a guest singer on the stage of the Silesian Opera in  Verbum Mobile, Tannhäuser and Manru.
