Nadia Attavanti, an opera blogger, talks to Artur Ruciński, the winner of the 2nd prize of the Competition in 2000 - the 6th National Opera Vocal Competition Adam Didur

Nadia: Hello, Artur. I’m very grateful you agreed to answer a few questions concerning your participation in International Adam Didur  Opera Singers’ Competition in Bytom. 40 years have passed since the first Competition in 1979; this edition will be the fourth one which is organized as an international event. You participated in this competition in 2000 and won the second award. There was no first award that year. 19 years has passed. Do you remember that moment when you stood in front of the jury for the first time and had to present your abilities? What did you feel back then, what emotions were accompanying you during the performances? Was this very stressful? Do you remember all of that?

Artur Ruciński: Frankly, after 19 years I’ve forgotten many details about that time. However, I remember that there were very positive emotions and the atmosphere during the competition was very good. All people working at the competition office that took care of the contestants were very friendly. It was really great to sing at the Bytom’s Opera. Was this stressful? Sure, but in a positive, motivating way. I knew who was in the jury and that made me sing and present myself in a best possible way.

Nadia: Do you remember what exactly did you sing at the competition?
